I love Fridays. I work harder because I know there’s a break coming, I get excited about the weekend, and I start planning the good brunch I will either cook or find!
This weekend there will be many St. Patty’s Day celebrations, and that inspired me to go green. But my favorite green drink has nothing to do with beer… I’m obsessed with Matcha Green Tea!
Speaking of Matcha Green Tea… one glass of matcha is equivalent to 10 glasses of regular green tea in terms of antioxidants and nutritional value. Matcha is a great detoxer, energy booster, and calorie burner, so spice up your latte habit now!
Recently on a vacation to San Francisco, I had my first ever Matcha Chai Latte along with the best brunch I’ve ever tasted at farm:table. I’ve been trying to recreate it since, and I have finally satisfied my craving with this recipe:
Matcha Chai Latte
- 1 tablespoon Matcha (I use this one Whole Foods)
- 1 cup Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
- Up to 1 cup filtered water
- 1 teaspoon ground Cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground Ginger
- 1/8 teaspoon ground Cloves
- 1/8 teaspoon ground Nutmeg or Allspice
- optional: 1/2 teaspoon Raw Honey or 3 drops Stevia Extract
Heat the almond milk in a small saucepan on low/medium heat. As it heats, add in the matcha and spices and whisk well. Slowly add in up to a cup of water while stirring. Pour into your favorite mug and sweeten with honey or the stevia, if needed!
